When taking images around Antares with a 294 and a RedCat51, there is very noticeable flaring around Antares. The attached file shows:
- 5-minute exposure unstretched
- 5-minute exposure stretched
- 10-second exposure stretched
The images are all unprocessed. The 5-minute stretched exposure shows the full extent of the problem:
- with a large bright oval area around Antares filling almost all the clipping
- and lobes fanning out from Antares
but it is still just as apparent with a 10-second exposure.
I have taken similar shots with other cameras and telescopes of Antares and other bright stars but have never seen this effect before.
