Hello,

I recently own the latest ASIAIR Pro version that I use with a ZWO system and in particular the ASI183MM Pro camera.

Normally, according to the associated documentation, version 1.4.4 integrates the ROI function (which in my opinion is an excellent development). However, I cannot find this function for my ASI183MM Pro!

Can you help me please ?

Best regards

Alain Lafont

ROI function is available only for full frame cameras.

That is how I too interpret the update notes for v1.4.4.

ZWO probably implemented ROI for the full frame cameras because downloads of full frames through WiFi can take a lot of time, not to mention the memory usage and scaling the image for the tablet's display.

That being said, reduced ROI could be useful even for the smaller APS sensor cameras when shooting small galaxies, since it can substantially reduce post processing times.

Currently, Astro Pixel Processor (APP) does not do just-in-time cropping (that I know). To save time with stacking, one has to use APP's batch cropping tool on images from a camera like the ASI2600 or ASI071, including also pre-cropping the master calibration frames. With a typical galaxy that is shot using an ASI2600 and a 500mm focal length OTA, most of the image ends up being cropped away. If ASIAIR can emit a frame-centered ROI of fixed size (so calibration frames and light frames cover precisely the same pixels), it can save a lot of time.

That is great idea. For small object it would be perfect solution.

Hi. Sorry to dig up this topic but is there any news on this ? I would love to be able to use ROI with my 2600MC.

@asiair@zwo#39732 I would love to be able to use ROI with my 2600MC, for this camera it would be essential

    thanks.

@tech@zwo#54807 thanks for clarifying. Could we get ROI with ASI 2600 in imaging (preview, autorun, plan) mode as well, please? This would make sense for imaging smaller galaxies (like M51) where there is a lot of cropping in post-editing necessary. If it is cropped during imaging, then we would need way less disc space for the images.

      Thanks in advance.

@tech@zwo#54807 I would like in image, no video. How difficult is it to do it?

      Thanks

      Hello
Has there been any progress on ROI?...

      10 days later

Yes, please implement ROI for the ASI 2600 and others. There have been some great ROI implementation ideas suggested in this thread and in the other threads. It would be a wonderful feature for EAA and AP that would help systems run more smoothly, faster, and with higher efficiently. 😃 Being able to choose from centered reduced sizes would be exquisite!

Reduced ROI would be an excellent feature in imaging mode for the 6200MM as well. Currently I can reduce only to APS-C size. NINA has incorporated many ROI choices for a full frame camera which I use when I am imaging small targets. To have more ROI choices in ASI AIR would be awesome. Please consider this feature in a future release.

Thank you very much for your feedback and support, I forwarded this to our ASIAIR team, and they will consider this in the future.

Hello, when could there be a new ASIAIR update with ROI support?

      Thanks

Im am a 2600 User and i would really appreciate ROI :-)

astromatz Hello, it seems that at the moment they cannot or do not want to implement it. A shame

Any progres on getting ROI in preview, autorun, plan mode?
2 years and nothing can be done? Really ZWO team?

Bump. ROI still needed. Please encourage the ASIAR team to implement these ideas in your next release. Thx!

Hello. Do you have the ROI for the 2600 for the next ASIAIR release? Thank you
