I have a new ASIAIR Pro that I really like so far. However, I cannot get it to do the Polar Align routine. The mount is connected via USB and works flawlessly for GOTO with the ASIAIR app, plate solving, etc. But when I use the polar align routine, it will take the first photo and plate solve, but then it fails to move the mount 60 degrees. It moves, but very, very slowly and does not register the movement in the app (i.e. it still shows 0 degrees of movement). Any suggestions? I've tried doing a "go to home" before beginning the polar align routine but it doesn't make any difference.

Thanks for any help.

The V1.5 is coming, when it's published you can use it and upload the runtime logs, then we can analyze them to find out the issue and fix it.

    Ladera,

I have the same issue with my Losmandy Gemimi 2. Did you get any response from support?

    Thank you,

    Are you referring to this?

Explore Scientific G-11 PMC-EIGHT and the ASIAIR-PRO document?

Can you give me more details on this?

    Thank you,

Yes, that's the document. All the info is in that doc, we have no G11 so can't get the routine on our side. But you can ask Tyler.

I have the same issue here. I got my ASIAir Pro back in July 2020, got my Losmandy G11 almost at the same time. They functioned flawlessly for 3-4 months. I switched to a new setup which included a new ASIAir Pro, and a Skywatcher EQ6R-Pro, so I stopped using my initial setup while I tried the new arrivals for a couple of weeks. So after a couple of weeks I tried to come back to my first ASIAir and the Losmandy G11, and found to have those same issues: no problem on goto, no problem plate solving, however, the PA routine will stop constantly try after try at 8 degrees of rotation (so I did a PA with a Polemaster). Later found out about another annoying issue, guiding will start, after calibration, and after 5-10 seconds DEC goes haywire, and guiding is useless (7"-10" of error at least), the RA will stick around 1" -1.5", but the DEC just disappears off the graph... I took care of never mixing setups, to avoid any misconfigurations... I don't have a clue what's going on...

I am having similar issues with my Atlas eq-g mount and synscan controller. It worked fine a few days ago now it is changing the location of the mount from east to west and polar alignment is rotating the wrong way and doesn't stop.

Hello, can you upload the log for our R & D team to have a look
We will solve this problem in the next version

I uploaded a log after trying to connect and getting the location change. Is there a way for me to roll back to an older firmware version? I cant use the ASI Air pro in its current state.

Hello, Asiair does not support rolling back to an older version

This is a more common issue. I have exactly the same problem with my Avalon Linear mount with StarGo system, and there's also someone with a HEQ5.. Since these are completely different mounts with different control systems the problem must be with the Asiair. There are obviously issues with the latest updates, such as trouble guiding and being unable to polar align. The 1.5.1 update did not resolve the issue for me. As a workaround for the polar alignment you can disconnect the mount inside the Asiair app, start polar alignment, hit "continue" (or whatever) when the warning pops up and just rotate the mount manually. It might even actually be faster than the automated version. Just don't forget to reconnect the mount after polar alignment is done.

ladera I have a new ASIAIR Pro and a Losmandy GM_8 and I have this exact problem. Did you ever figure it out and get it working properly? If yes, could you share the solution with me. thanks Tom

Have the same problem on my new Losmandy GM811-G and the ASIAIR pro: "the PA routine will stop constantly try after try at 8 degrees of rotation"

I have the same issue when doing Polar alignment the slew to 60 degrees takes about 3 minutes. Updated to latest software on IPAD 1.6.2 same thing. Anyone have a work around for this ZWO do you have a fix....

mjcaike55 I have the same issue when doing Polar alignment the slew to 60 degrees takes about 3 minutes.

Next time, see if you can catch it while it is doing the slow movement. Stop everything and take a look at the slew speeds in your hand controller. What are the two fastest slew speeds set to?

From my observation of the behavior of the ASIAIR, it uses the second fastest speed to test how much the mount has slewed after n milliseconds of slewing at that rate. It then assumes that the highest speed and next highest speed has a certain fixed ratio. If that ratio is wrong or one of those speeds are wrong, you get completely bogus and erratic behavior from ASIAIR. (Rube Goldberg would be proud.)

With other mounts, ASIAIR assume that you have not changed the slew speed from the factory default. I don't have a GM mount, so I don't know if Losmandy has a published factory default for the slew speeds, or if ASIAIR knows about it. If you can find the factory defaults, you might want to try resetting all the slew speeds to their factory default values through the hand controller.

ZWO has never admitted that there is a bug, much less hint if they even plan to fix it.

You might be able to experiment with different slew speeds in your hand controller, but be aware that it is not just the higest speed that determines the movement. Check the second fastest speed too, and perhaps others. In any event, stand right next to the mount, ready to pounce on it to stop any movement, in case it overshoots when the ratio of speeds is not what the ASIAIR expects.
