ZWO EAF and Esprit 80

I was able to attach the EAF to my Esprit 80 but there doesn’t seem to enough torque to retract the focuser. It will extend but not retract. It’s also very quite which I wasn’t expecting. Could it being underpowered cause this problem? I’m using the same power supply that I use with my ASI183MC PRO.

I have used an EAF n my Esprit 80 now for well over a year and it works like a charm. Have you loosened the bolt that locks the focuser?

Thanks, I did loosen which helped but did not completely solve it. What power source are you using?

We use a small power bank designed for emergency recharging of a mobile phone and a USB cable that has a connector that fits in the EAF on one side. The motor focuser really doesn't need much power. Does the focuser move easily when turning the knobs by hand?

Any idea why my EAF does not respond to the manual remote anymore? It worked fine a first
night. Power light is on and it shows active on the Asiair Pro screen. Any hints appreciated.

I had the same issue. The cable connecting the manual remote has to be pushed all the way in. There are actually 2 "clicks" . Hold the back of the focuser and push the cable firmly.

I recently bought an Esprit 80 and ZWO EAF as well, it's working great after some trial/error. The original mounting plate that came with the EAF only lets you use one screw to hold the EAF on. I really didn't like that all it since had some wobble to it and the plate wasn't long enough to reach the other screw hole which actually wasn't even taped on my focuser.

After a bunch of research on forums, it turns out the "ZWO EAF bracket for Takahashi Scope" is really what you need to mount EAF securely to the Esprit 80. It says it works for Esprit 100+, but at least for my new Esprit 80 scope it worked great. Not sure if old scopes focusers are different than my new scope focusers, but that optional bracket has extra long screws that replace the two screws on one end of the focuser perfectly. Highly recommend it, it gave me peace of mind that I don't feel like I'm accidentally going to knock the EAF around putting in and out of the case now.
