I’m also very frustrated to see my Z6 II not being supported by the Asiair Pro. When they release the last update I thought it was supported finally… in vain . Is Z6 and Z6II so different so it’s hard to support both ?

Nikon Z7 ii is supported by Gphoto and I have been using that instead of ASIAIR for last 1 month. Please let us know when it will be supported via ASIAIR PRO.

gphoto is certainly a nice tool, but I didn’t bought an Asiair pro to ended up using gphoto. I just hope you at ZWO understand that your customers are mainly beginners and usually start playing around with their DSLR before investing in an ASI2600. Having to wait 6 months to get our Redbox support our camera is very frustrating and may discourage many futures dedicated astro-cameras owners. This about DSLR as a door to open to let in future customers. Waiting for an update soon. Thank you !

Lain402 Many DSLR manufacturers do not open up the camera control API so everything has to be reverse engineered and by far the best option is to use gphoto2. Coming back to your question if it is so hard to support the Z6 and Z6II: yes it is! Complain to Nikon for not opening up their APIs for software developers instead of blaming other developers.

So, the question remains: are the Z6 and Z6II supported by gphoto? If yes then report that here so ZWO can add those cameras to AAP.

wvreeven I’m not blaming anyone here, I’m just wondering why it’s possible to support the Nikon z6 and z7 that are very similar with the z6ii and z7ii but not being able to support these two cameras. But I’m confident that zwo will update the Asiair pro so we can use the latest Nikon cameras works with the red box and I know it’s not easy for them thanks to Nikon !

Lain402 It is amazing how very similar cameras sometimes turn out to have completely different APIs. So the fact that one version of a camera is supported by gphoto doesn’t necessarily mean that the next version is supported as well.

Lain402 I certainly agree and so does ZWO. That's why they asked if the Z6 II is supported by gphoto. That question still has not been answered in this thread 😉

is there any confirmation that the Nikon Z6 ii will be supported anytime soon? not much poing in having the ASIAIR Pro if its not going to support my camera and I'm certainly not going to buy another camera just because ZWO wont support my Nikon!

wvreeven according to the gphoto website here http://www.gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php the Nikon Z7 and Z6 ii's are supported by gphoto

Sorry if slightly off-topic but I saw my camera is also supported in gphoto. Any chance we can get support for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 mk2 too?

We only add Nikon and Canon for the moment. Of course more cameras like Olympus and Sony will be added in the future.
