I'm glad I'm not alone 🙂 I did the same mistake and could not put it back together. After few hours of trying, using towels to improve hands grip I managed to screw on the red ring back. I used all strength I could master, it made loud click like I broke the thread but it was back where it should be. I can't unscrew it again even if i try, it is stuck but in correct position.
Now, thinking back, I wonder if the thread was in opposite direction, but can't verify.
