I am wondering what the long term solution is to this problem. ZWO reports that it is due to the chip set in the GEM45, so that makes it a hardware problem on iOptron's side, which I doubt they will fix except perhaps on new models. On the other hand, maybe some clever software engineers at ZWO can come up with a work around. I have a GEM45 that I recently acquired, but I'm wondering if I should return it. I did verify that the use of an unpowered USB hub works, but I have not tested this in the field yet due to weather, so I don't know if this is going to be stable.
