No, Not Ioptron's issue.
I can connect USB and good work with Windows PC, Mac, ASIAIR V1(original RP).
Only ASIAIR Pro can not work with iOptlon USB3 hub. I'm engineer, So this case is ZWO's issue. Even ASIASI V1 can work. BCS it is proper RP hard ware. But ASIAIR is not original RP. Not same parts, not same chip design. That is why only ASIAIR Pro can not work with iOptron's USB hub.

Sorry to resurrect an old post but I recently acquired a new CEM40 mount. When I tried to connect it to the ASIAIR Pro with the iOptron USB2-B to USB2-A cable or a similar cable I use for another mount, it would not connect. I found a video from someone who ran into this problem and he said to use a USB unpowered hub in between the ASIAIR and the mount. I had a USB2 unpowered hub laying around, connected the cable from the mount to that and then connected a cable from the hub to the ASIAIR and now it works. I had selected the CEM40/GEM45 2021v in ASIAIR. This seems to be a year-old problem which I thought would have been fixed by now, but I guess not. So if anyone has this issue, this is one solution.

@zwo, the problem still persists and with latest update, it has broken even the USB hub workaround.

There are several posts now referring to this issue. I have refrained from updating to the latest version until it is fixed.

there is a usb2serial driver called PL2303 in ASIAIR plus ,but not in ASIAIR pro.

Gehring9006 I added the non-powered usb hub into the picture last night and was finally able to connect to my GEM45 (new er model). I could even slew the motors from the asi air app. But when I went to polar align it would not rotate the mount 60 degrees. This partial success only happened once using a baud rate of 115200. Could not replicate it again. Also tried using 2 cables; one thru the usb hub into the mount and one into the hand controller. The 2 cable arrangement did not work.

@ASIAIR@ZWO are these issues getting addressed in new 2.0 beta for ASIAIR PLUS?

Worth a try. FWIW ASIAIR+ and v2.0 beta is working fine but I'm on a Losmandy G11G with a Gemini 2 mini controller with beta L6 and PIC code loaded and use Ethernet to a nano router. The v2.0 beta features are impressive and I think ZWO must have made a base code change because they require much later iOS and droid os and double the RAM now.

Is there any update on this issue? I see so many posts on different forums about ASIAIR not been able to work with newer mounts with onboard USB. Almost all the posts are confirming they are able to use the mount with NINA or some other software. If this is USB driver issue on Raspberry PI old Linux Kernel, ZWO should consider upgrading it to newer one. I don’t mind upgrading myself but ZWO does not even provide SSH access. Please provide some solution. I don’t mind trying the 2.0 beta version if there is some way to downgrade to stable version on iOS devices. There is no date available for 2.0 release. It’s really not helping the users.

Did you try an unpowered USB 2.0 hub between the ASIAIR and the mount USB2 port? That works for my CEM40 which initially was not able to be recognized by the ASIAIR PRO?

ashutoshv I don’t mind trying the 2.0 beta version if there is some way to downgrade to stable version on iOS devices.

The Beta apps that are downloaded through iOS TestFlight can simply be deleted, and then dowloading the released iOS app from the standard iOS App Store. (You can even download different versions of the current Beta.)

However, if you want to run older apps, be sure that you have a way to also revert back to older ASIAIR firmware after the Beta app replaces the released firmware with the beta firmware. With the first two generations of ASIAIR, that means to make a firmware backup that you can restore from, or you will be wating hours trying to download 20 GB of data from the internet.

johnpd yes I tried with the USB hub. It used to work before the last release. After that it has stopped working. Even if it works with USB hub, it’s not a solution - it is only a workaround. If ZWO is not willing to or if it’s not possible to fix actual root cause, at least should give SSH access to the PI and whoever wants can try to fix the issue at their responsibility.

No need to with the third generation ASIAIR -- just do a firmware reset, and it will revert back to the original firmware that came with the device. The non-beta app should then tell you that the very old firmware needs to be updated.

Hold down reset button on the ASIAIR box for more than 5 seconds to perform a firmware reset.
