I 2nd that. It would also be useful when getting objects in frame. The limited preset ROI of 1080p really limits the FOV. It is much easier to compose/frame objects when you are in video mode and can see things move fairly quickly as you adjust your scope. Yes, you can use preview, but I find it too slow and I spend too much time composing/framing the target. I own an ASI183 and I believe it can do 17fps at full resolution; it would really be nice to take full advantage of that when using my Aire Pro.

Yes, video mode really is limiting as it is now. It may be OK for planetary, but for solar imaging doing full-frame video is the normal method of observing. Please consider adding this!

I am in the same boat...I just received a ASI533MM to do solar work and get a full disk image off my Lunt 80mm scope...I can see a full image in focus in preview mode but I can't record in the native camera mode of 3008x3008. Ditto the above! Please consider adding this! Thx!!!!

chrishet It is a trade off, it is a tiny device with very limited hardware resources built for convenience not performance.

With the announcement of the new ZWO ASIAIR Plus 256G will ASI now address this?

chrishet The 256 is said to increase the capture frame rate by 30% so yes it will help a little bit.

enaiman Higher frame rates will be useful however I am looking to be able to capture/save video files from my ASI533MM camera in its native mode of 3008x3008. Cropping or scaling to 1080p isn't going to work for me.

chrishet If that's the case then I am afraid that won't work for you - I didn't see anything mentioned about allowing higher resolutions. But you never know. It is better for you to send an email to ZWO and ask them directly about that.

ZWO studio lets you use the full resolution, but it really should be part of the ASI AIR.

I have the same problem, i just bought an asi585 mc for planetary and i can't take videos in high resolution. the asiair plus limits is 1080P. next april 8th there will be a total eclpse. for now the sun or the moon are tight in the imge. I will have to use other software. I hope ZWO will be able to solve this issue.

Tech@ZWO Aaaaand .... there goes the plan to buy a second Asiair (256) for planetary imaging rig. I already have the 32G for Deep Space ... but was planning on buying the other one for my SCT and planetary ... I guess I will have to look for an alternative.
