EAF strength issues

I have an EAF attached to a William Optics GT81 IV with a flattener and a 7-filter EFW and ASI294MM. The assembly is balanced well. It is struggling to pull the focuser in when the scope is pointed upward. It has no problem letting it out. This has been a problem since I purchased it last fall. When using an ASI071MC there doesn’t appear to be as many issues, although on occasion it will double-beep error or as well. The focuser moves incredibly easy so it’s not binding and there’s zero backlash. The EAF also has its own 12v 5a power supply. Is it possible this unit has a weak motor? Is there something I’m not thinking?

Please make sure the load is within 5kg
and check the Zero&Max position settings

I'm not sure of the exact weight, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't exceed 5kg. It's just the flattener, EFW 7-filter wheel, and ASI294MC. I've talked with several others online with the same setup as mine who have zero problems. The zero and max settings are set to the full in/out on the telescope focus tube. When retracting the tube, I can operate it manually a little at a time but usually errors out after about 200-500 and double beeps. If I hit the travel button again, it will move 200-500 and double beep error again. I can get to focus, but I can't autofocus as it will just fail.
