To take advantage of the Permanent Error Correction training, users need to use non-ASIAir hardware, and as a lot of mounts have the PEC ability and it can improve guiding significantly, I'm requesting PEC to be added if possible. Thanks.

please add the predictive PEC correction (https://openphdguiding.org/man-dev/Guide_algorithms.htm) to the guiding options. It will not interfere with the PEC in the mount, but learn the predictions and apply them in advance to prevent unintended moves of the mount before the happen. Hands free - even for beginners. It is not more complicated than setting the aggressiveness of the guiding is now. It is a game changer for anybody using PHD2 and it could be the same for everyone using the ASIAir.

I think this is a question of causality. I guess most ASIAir users would use PEC if it was straight forward. Currently, one needs to manually train PEC into the hand controller if used in parallel with the ASIAir. I agree that many people currently to not do this - ofter because it is complicated.
The major software solutions to ease and automate astrophotography all do include PEC solutions. Many people here use an ASIAir because they go for the lightweight, automated and ease-of-use approach and shy away from using several different software solutions in parallel on a laptop or need a solution "on-site". Nevertheless, everyone is interested to the best guiding possible - just have a look at the very positive reception of your multistar guiding feature.
An implementation with a likewise ease of use of your multistar implementation - which can be easily done without user interaction - would be much appreciated by the community! Please have a look at the link I posted above and consider it as another great feature for the ASIAir eco system.

Rudi put it well - PEC is a way to enhance guiding for mounts that support it. So why not enhance guiding?

I’ll add that it should be very easy for ZWO to add. The code is only two commands/lines. RECORD PEC, PLAY PEC, it’s entirely on the mount to do all of the PEC activity. Also, this shouldn’t be automatic, so a switch in the mount settings to activate PEC should be there because you don’t want it always trying to record PEC when you do a goto.

However, with that said; this feature doesn’t come before ZWO puts effort to fixing meridian flips, pierside issues, and improves compatibility with the most popular mounts (celestron, sky-watcher)

Kring Actually, I would vote for a fully automated function to keep ASIAir as easy to use as possible. PEC (in generally enabled kn the settings) should only be activated while imaging. This way one knows that there will only be unintentional movements of the mount (except meridian flips). If combined with parallel recoding of the effectiveness of the PEC correction and iterative improvement of the PEC model, one would get perfect PEC within a few circles without any user interaction.

If you could PEC train from the asiair, and play that curve back later, that would only serve to improve guiding that bit more again (multi star has improved it too). I think serious users are forced to having to choose between a laptop that can do PEC & the ASIAir that currently cannot, but if it gets added, then that's a whole lot of new users all switching to asiair pro.

I suggest a compromise:

Training is NOT done with AsiAir, but from a PC with EQMod
The generated PEC curve is loaded permanently into the mount (also with EQMod on the PC)

All AsiAir would have to do would be to tell the mount via EQMod protocol, it should use the stored PEC.
That should be pretty easy to implement.
The User Interface on the AsiAir would only get an additional, simple checkbox "enable PEC", which would be straight foreward and should not confuse Users, who don't use PEC.

PEC it’s the best when I use with my mount ! Guide improve 100% , Asiair need to add this in the next future upgrade , it’s a total game change !

Have to agree, PEC would be awesome as a feature via ASIAIR, especially as my mount cannot save the PEC.

Its of greater benefit when imaging near the zenith as I over get random 2" movements at greater focal lengths I'm almost certain are mount related, as they loop around every 8 minutes. I must admit if the function was there I would use it without question, but I would normally choose to image wider Field and manage without it.
