I use an iOptron Alt-Az Pro mount and a CEM40 . The Alt-Az built in gps will always use DST and it throws off the asiair slew-to.

Its strange because it does this even if I do or do not 'sync to mount' . Once I change the DST off in the mount hand controller it solves the problem.

On the CEM40, I just do not plug in the GPS and it works entirely off the AAP ...no problems there.

Hi I have the CEM40 and ASIAIR+ and I'm having all sorts of issues now its summertime. How do get your set up working?
On the hand controller i can only set DST to Yes or No. Which should i choose and what time should i set, i.e. current time or 1hr behind current time. Also i have a plug in GPS, does that need to be unplugged.

Hoping you can help, as I'm sick to death of these issues

I'm very confused with all of this.
I have the AsiAir Plus, SW Neq6 Pro mount with v5 hand controler.

Here is what I have been doing with no issues with AMF and GoTo's
1) Turn mount on
2) Input time and date (currently in Day light savings)
3) do a rough 1 star alignment
4) slew mount back to home position
5) connect USB cable from AsiAir to Hand controller.
6) Open AIRair App on Ipad/phone
7) Connect mount in App & sync phone to mount
8) Do a PA
9) and you know the rest.....

I have not touched the Ipad/phone time settings and my Goto's and Meridian flips have worked perfectly every time. The same goes when we have not been in Day light savings.... So what I'm I missing?

One thing to note is after I do a sync from the App to Mount, the next time I use the mount and enter the time & date and setup for the night the day light saving is turned off in the Hand controller. I suspect this was done by the sync phone to mount.

DST ended 7 Nov 2021 so it should be Off or No as you should have the same settings that you have in your Hand Controller.

Please let me know if this response from Celestron (regarding the DST issue) is sufficient (I have a Celestron AVX mount)
CELESTRON: "If you have the DST at Standard all you need to do is set up your correct timezone and everything will run smooth"

Hope this is helpful to CGX and CGXL users. When DST arrives I set the time in the Hand Controller to one hour behind DST, as if it never changed to DST. So when the time is 9pm in Summer, I set the time in the HC for 8pm. And I set the hand controller to Standard time. Bam! Works.

Very odd. I've used mine with an EQ6-R several times during DST without even thinking about this and it's worked every time. Note I connect directly to the USB port on the mount (the hand controller is still wrapped in it's shipping packaging). In other words, works fine as is.

I hope I get an answer on this question. I get leavening the DST off and will leave it off. Do I leave the time setting itself the same also or go forward one hour like the clocks. ? HEM27EC mount.

How does one go about turning off DST in the mount? I am using the AM5 mount with ASIAIR Plus (both using latest versions of software and firmware). When I open the AM5 app I do not see any setting to turn DST off!!

How do you turn off DST on the AM5? The ASIAIR app tells you to turn it off, but gives you no clues how to do it. I went into the mount app and there is no way to change the time?

How do I go about doing this?

Chen doesn't know, he doesn't use the AM5 mount. I have the same question. The newest version of ASIAIR (2.1) has this on the mount settings page:
"Please ensure that DST is disabled on HC, It's normal that the time on the mount is 1 hour earlier than your local time."

Yet I don't see any way to do this using the mount's app or the mount's hand controller (HC). Does anyone know what this is about and how to ensure that the ASIAIR Plus and the mount are communicating successfully in regard to guiding, tracking and the meridian flip?

Remember that DST is just an artifact placed on the UTC Offset when Summer arrives. UTC itself does not change, and your longtitude does not change.

Can you set UTC time, and Longitude through your Hand Controller? If so, do that. And if it needs Local Time, set the local time to Winter Time (Spring forward, Fall back).

That should be completely equivalent to turning DST off.

I have the ZWO AM5 and the ASIAIR PLUS.
I think it's correct now. The app shows 1 hour earlier than the time in my computer or phone right?

I think that's true, it appears ZWO has taken into account DST, my app is showing the same thing, DST started Sunday in California and my mount's time is exactly 1 hour earlier than the actual time.

I am guessing that when ZWO added in the mount's settings "Please ensure that DST is disabled on HC. It's normal that the time on the mount is 1 hour earlier than your local time" it's for other manufacturer's mounts, not the AM5. But I am not really certain. All I know is that I haven't been able to find any way using the AM5's HC to change DST settings, nor can I find such settings in the AM5 or ASIAIR Plus apps.

Let's hope this is resolved;, I see of no other way to ensure that the LST is the same on the app, the mount and the ASIAIR Plus device. Just one more reason why I think DST is one of the stupidest ideas ever invented. States and nations that don't use it are making life easier for its citizens, well, at least in that one respect.

Aleastro I have to change my time in my tablet? So my EQ6-R PRO is not a few hour away from the DSO? I live in the Netherlands and the summertime is started, my UTC is +2. Do I have to go 1hour earlier in my tablet? Because in the wintertime I didn't have any issue.

I went out Wed. night (first time since switching to DST), and was not able to polar align, and am guessing it was due to DST/AM5/ASIAir issue. Yesterday, I set up at home, and verified that the AM5 and the ASIAir time were the same. I "synced", and it changed the AM5 time to one hour earlier. At home my iPad knows its location, but at a remote location it does not (lacks gps, and relies on wifi to fix its location). Because of that I have to edit the location when first opening the app on the iPad. I am then reluctant to "sync", since their iPad location is not correct. Now, I'm wondering if I cannot use the iPad when I'm remote. Does anyone have an opinion, or information as to this situation? Or do I not understand this issue. If so, please explain.

It is odd being that the AM5 Hand Controller has no DTS Setting that I could find. 🙂

For those of us who were not aware of this issue, like myself. I guess you have to stay glued to these forums to catch something like this. I hope there is a better resolution for this. I can't believe in 2023 we have GPS/time issues and going back to the beginning of this thread, to 2021??? I set up tonight and got NOWHERE due to this issue as the last time I set up was before the time change and everything worked. I'll try to set it up again and go through all the settings, but hey ZWO, do we really need to wait or put our mounts on hold until DST starts up again?

There is really no excuse for this integrated system to fail.

johnrsims43 , I would agree, but ZWO is quite responsive on updates for all their products.

I connected HC To Mount and connected to HC's WIFI and invoked ASI Mount App: App reads DST settings correctly. There is no setting to turn off DST in ASI Mount App as well.
But with ASI AIR App, it reads UTC-5 ( I am on east coast). I am not sure why two different apps for Same Ecosystem (ZWO Products) / Vendor should read differently. It almost seems like a problem with ASI AIR SW issue.
