Hello,
is there a way to use Fuji X mount lens with ASI camera like ASI178MC ?
If not, could ZWO think about a specific adapter ?

We will consider making a specific adapter based on a large amount of request about this.
Thanks.
Fuji X mount lens can be really interesting. They are not really expensive and many of them get manual diaphragm control ring.
Alain
I'll strongly second this request - I would love to use my Fuji camera lenses with my ZWO cameras! It would have to be quite thin, given the short back focus of the mirrorless Fuji system, but they would be a great match!
Hello,
any news from ZWO about my question ?
Alain
There is no plan for the moment. We will consider it when the demand is large.
Bad news.
Hybrid camera lens will be more and more, better and cheaper. New lens mount must be considered.
So, an other way to consider all those things would be to create de demand, by providing new adapter for ZWO cameras.
I think you should really provide that kind of adapter without waiting for large demand. You must be innovating company !
Alain
Completely agree with @easybob95 this is a classic chicken-and-the-egg problem, which one came first chicken or the egg? Adapter+YouTube to create demand Or demand? How do you even measure demand, does us asking here count?
Even if such adapter existed, you wouldn't be able to use native Fujifilm lenses.
On native Fuji lenses, the focus ring and the aperture ring are not mechanical, but electronic. Yes, turning those change the aperture and the focus when you have a camera connected. But try turning these with the lens detached from the body, or with the body turned off, and nothing will happen.
That means that if you don't have 1) electricity and 2) a software to communicate commands to the lens, you won't be able to use the lens. And Fuji doesn't provide a public API, so unless ZWO does like Viltrox and retro-engineers the whole connectivity to the camera...
The only lenses you could actually use are non-Fujifilm lenses with an X mount. Like, Samyang lenses in Fuji X mount, because they are completely manual. But then again, you'll run into problems with flange distance.
A Fuji lens has a flange distance of 17.7mm, which is very close to the flange distance of cameras like the ASI2600 (17.5mm). So, for these cameras, you can't create a 2mm adapter. Which means, only the smaller ZWO cameras could be used potentially (the smaller ones like ASI1600MM-Pro, or the planetary ones like the ASI178). On these cameras, you have about 11mm to play with, which is enough for making an adapter.
So I don't think ZWO can do anything about it, sadly... Which is pity, Fuji lenses are really superb!
Fujifilm lens are not the good target.
We have full mechanical lens for Fuji X mount like this one
7Artisans also make some interesting lens. So, Fuji X mount lens to ZWO camera makes sense.
Flange distance is the main problem but i must say that an adapter of ASI178 or expected ASI485 (!!!) would make my year.
The main question is : will ZWO provide us adapters for modern lens mount (i mean hybrid mount for sure) ? I hope so.
Alain
Hello,
it would be cool if ZWO could tell us if they will release an Fuji X lens adapter for camera like ASI485MC.
I do insist to get a response !
Alain
easybob95 I do insist to get a response !
Insist as much as you want, but you are asking for something between very hard to impossible to fabricate.
The Fuji X lenses has a flange focal distance of 17.7mm.
Even if you remove the T2 ring from your camera, you will still end up with a flange to sensor distance of 6.5mm. With the T ring, your camera has a flange to sensor distance of 17.5mm.
That leaves at best only 11.2mm for an adapter (even after removing the T2 ring). Even harder when you include a necessary filter. An adapter that includes a drawer is physically impossible.
Sony E lenses are not much better, with a flange focal distance of 18mm.
The reason an EOS lens is easy to adapt is because their flange focal distance is 44mm. So you see tons of EOS adapters out there.

very hard is better than impossible.
I asked ZWO for a response. I did not ask you.
If ZWO wants to make this adapter, they will. If they don't, they just have to say it.
Alain
Bad news.
