Will there be a mono IMX462 sensor camera?

The IMX462 sensor in the ASI462MC makes for the best planetary camera by far with its low noise and high sensitivity. However we're not extracting the full potential in OSC version so I was wondering if there were plans to make a mono camera with this sensor?

A question to ZWO on the 462 mono camera.

The relative response and QE curves posted for the mono camera do not look remotely like the curves posted for the colour version of the chip. I would expect that the QE in the near IR should be much higher than shown. Since I use IR pass and methane band filters this is very important for me.

Just curious to know before ordering one.

Don't confuse the relative response curves. Look at the quantum efficiency and you'll see it is equal to the MC above 850, and better at all values below it.

I don't think I've ever seen an absolute QE chart for the colour sensor.

There appears to be little correlation between the Relative Response at given wavelength and the reading on the QE...one reason I never liked the way it was presented.

If the IR response is equal or better than the colour chip I will be getting one.

It's right there on the zwo website? I believe these are absolute QE graphs (unlike the confusing relative response graphs.)

Well, I stand corrected on the absolute QE graph, though I think early on it was only the relative one posted (including on dealer sites). That said, the mono is on my to get list.

Any chance to can post a sample of your near IR results? This was one sample form last fall of Jupiter and an 18nm bandpass Methane filter and C14 with the ASI462MC.

As you can see from the graphs, the CH4 sensitivity of the MC and MM are virtually identical so there is nothing to gain there. On the other hand, the shorter IR where the bayer matrix is still heavily in effect has a lot to gain. Here's an IR642 bandpass image (642-842nm).

I have an IR830nm filter that I use every planetary session so that will be in a similar region as yours and still am a fan of separate RGB frames so it will be good there too.
