cgordo5 I used the same cables in both situations.
Are you using the latest ASIAIR app? There was a release note that it had fixed an issue with the 071.
That said, don't depend on a cable that works with one set of hardware to also work with another set of hardware. If the new ASIAIR app still does not work, try with a short (no more than 1 meter) high quality (thick) USB 3 cable.
EDIT: if you launch the App Store app on iPadOS/iOS, you should see "What's New" for v1.6.2 (firmware 8.11) say:
"Fixed the Bug with ASI071MC Cool."
v1.6.2 was released 3 weeks ago.
