Got a break in the clouds last night. Aligned the mount with the hand controller and was able to point at a star with the ASIAIR. So it sort of answers the question.
However, i ran into multiple problems. The ASIAIR tries to plate solve upon arrival, which doesn’t work because of aforementioned FOV issues. So it goes into a loop trying to correct it. Then, once it stops commanding the mount, the mount tracking stalls for 5-10 seconds. This destroys the alignment and it ends up lost.
I ordered an inexpensive guidescope to see if that gets me out of trouble. It’s obvious that I’m misunderstanding the role of the HC vs the ASIAIR, i don’t know where to go to resolve that.
