So here’s the thing.
My new ASIAir Plus will only allow me to plug one thing at a time into the 2 USB 2 ports, if the main camera is plugged into one of the USB3 ports.
(Latest firmware etc.)
I’ve 2 identical setups:
ASI2600MC connected to USB 3 socket on the ASIAir Plus;
Guide camera (ASI290MM) to USB 2 socket;
Mount (CEM40) to USB 2 socket;
EAF to USB hub on the back of the ASI2600.
The 2 rigs are both set up exactly the same. One works flawlessly straight out of the box. The other doesn’t, as the ASIAir Plus goes into an endless loop of startup/shutdown when you turn it on when two things are plugged into the USB2 AND the camera is connected to the USB3 port.
After endless testing with numerous cables etc today, I’ve narrowed it down to being unable to have 2 things plugged into the USB 2 sockets at the same time if the USB3 port is being used. EAF/Guide cam doesn’t work. Mount/Guide cam doesn’t work. In fact all combinations of EAF/Guide cam/Mount don’t work if any of the two things are plugged in together when the main camera is plugged into the USB3 port.
Sure, I can run the guide cam or EAF through the USB hub on the back of the camera, and it works. The problem is that it means I’ve got an ASIAir Plus with 2x USB 3 sockets and effectively only one USB 2 socket.
Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve reset the firmware and Wi-Fi, to no avail. I’d do a full OS restore except the instructions on the ZWO website relate only to the ASIAir and Pro, and don’t mention any downloadable OS for the ASIAir Plus. Will this void my warranty if it bricks trying to restore the OS?
Any tips or advice gratefully appreciated.
And Happy Christmas!
