ASIStudio exposure delay on live view

Im having difficulties viewing my live view in real time due to some kind of feature at the top left of the screen where it says "Exposure" and then has a count down. So, if I have my exposure set at 30, that means I can only see my live view screen for one frame every 30 seconds. This makes it very hard to accurately focus the telescope, find an object or see whats going on. When I set it to 100-1000ms the exposure countdown goes away but there is still a slight lag time and this only happens at night. During the day when I am testing it on trees its super fast with no delay. I have the 533, and a MacBook pro laptop.

Of course. When you set the exposure time for 30 seconds, the camera has to open its shutter for 30 seconds, and in the meantime, will not be sending any data back to the computer.

At the end of the 30-second exposure, it sends the data it has collected.

You will never get anything better than 1/T frames per second when exposing for T seconds.

Just increase the gain of the camera if you want shorter exposure times.

Just focus using a Bahtinov mask in any mode that you find convenient. The focus will not change as you change modes, it is a property of the optical path.

w7ay Thank you. Yes, which mode gives me a constant live view so I can do that in? Cant focus even with a Bahtinov if I cant see a live view screen in real time.

JasonMathias Select Focus and make sure that the star that you want to focus on is in the center of the field of view. AAP will take one normal picture and will then take pictures of a small region of interest (ROI) around the center of the field of view. With that running you can focus manually.
