In an effort to use a better camera for guiding I was hoping to use ASI174MM USB 3.0 camera as guide camera with a 30mm 120 FL guide scope (William Optics), with ZWO helical focuser. All of this with ASIAIR plus (beta 1.9 build 32).
In order to get focus on stars, I selected 174MM as main camera.
Unfortunately taking a 10s exposure results in “timed out” message which is shown for split second and then followed by “Exposure Failure”.
I’ve had this issue last year (link below) and it still persists.. at the time I had tried the camera with ASI Studio and fire-capture and the camera worked fine with both (ZWO suggestion) only with ASIAIR I get this failure. Because of this issue had to get the 120 MM mini.
Q1 since this is a USB 3.0 camera, should I connect the camera to USB 3 port on ASI AIR ( I have a free port) or should I connect it to the USB port at the back of the camera?
Q2 could it be a power to 174MM issue?
Interestingly the issue last year was with ASIAIR Pro and this year with Plus… so has to do with something with the camera.
This camera use to be my solar imagining camera and was hoping to use it with ASIAIR for solar imaging.. not very hopeful at the moment.
@zwo I’ve submitted feedback via the app therefore you should have the log(s)
hopefully can sort out the problem..
