when taking my flats after an imaging session with the ASIAir Pro/Plus i regularly find myself
- looking into the log files to find out EAF's position for the specific filters used
- set the filter position manually
- take flats
- repeat with step 1. until flats for all filters have been taken
So here comes another feature request to automate that:
I would like a dedicated Flats mode (like Autorun, Plan, Preview, etc.) which works like this:
- manually select a log file from a list of log files from a previous session
- ASIAir parses the selected log file to find all filter changes to detect which filters have been used in the imaging session (and thus, which have to be part of the Flats mode session)
- ASIAir parses the selected log file to find all corresponding auto-focus positions (there could be several for each filter!) and adds them to the corresponding filter from step 2.
- the result is displayed like the tiles in the Autorun Scheduler, but this time one tile for each filter/EAF position combination
- there is an input field to enter a global number of images which affects all tiles and represents the number of flats to take
- after the Flats Autorun is prepared and still manually editable like the current Autorun mode, the mode waits to be started manually with a dedicated start/stop button (because the user has to setup his scope and flat panel first before it can run properly)
- Finally, the user hits the start button and ASIAir does its usual thing (exposure length calculation, taking the amount of flats selected in step 5.) and goes through all tiles.
Edit: additionally, while taking flats, ASIAir could remember the individual exposure times so that after all flats have been taken, the user could be asked to remove the panel and put on the lens cap to prepare a second run for taking flat darks.
In my opinion, this would simplify taking flats enormously. What do you think?
