I wonder if anyone can help me, I live in the UK and astronomy must be the worst hobby to do here because of the weather. Recently the weather has been better so I set up my Redcat 51, Celestron AVX mount with the Asiair pro, The camera I set up is an ASI1600mm and 120 guide. When I started to PA the camera takes an image and then move to the 60deg position and then just stops, can someone tell me whats going on?

That sounds normal..? Does the App not have a dialogue box that says either ‘Next’ or ‘Let’s Go’? That’s the prompt to start the PA using the latitude and azimuth bolts to mechanically adjust the mount.

As Matt says that seems to be normal on a number of Celestron mounts. I was with a person with an AVX mount and ran into the same problem. As I recall what most people do is instead of the letting the ASIAIR do the rotation, you do it manually with the mount disconnected from the ASIAIR. There is a manual option in the polar alignment function, that will allow you to bypass its standard process yet still give it the information it needs. If you search the messages here, you should be able to find one or more that defines the process you need to go through.

The ASIAIR Pro needed an firmware upgrade to properly control the AVX, the plus has the correct firmware in it already. I have been using the plus with very few issues.

I have AVX
I experienced the problem 2 years ago
since then I don’t connect the mount since I finish the PA with AAP. I rotate it manually when it asks
i then connect it after PA
they say they solved this issue but I never tested it again, I continue to manually move during PA
