iEQ30 Pro setup

Hi. I’m hoping someone can help. I’ve seen similar topics but none have helped so far.

I’m new to ASIair and just received my Plus together with ZWO 30f4 guide scope and ZWO ASI120MM Mini guide cam.

Mount iOptron iEQ30 Pro connected to AAP USB2 port and mount RS232 via USB-RS232 converter cable and RS232 cable. ie same cable setup as I use to update my hand controller. I updated the hand controller last month, so I know the cables are fine.

Camera connected to USB2 on AAP and ST4 from camera to Guide Port on mount.

The mount connects (or appears to) using the App. Serial connection & 9600 Baud. However, the mount does not respond to Goto commands from the App? It is unresponsive.

I can see the guide cam on the App and appears to work ok. I can see stars and select them for guiding. However, the camera does not appear to be communicating with the mount. If I select calibration - it does nothing?

I’m obviously doing something wrong but I don’t know what. Others seem to make this setup work perfectly fine.

Please keep answers simple 😉

Update. Just enough clear sky to do some testing. Further success! Managed to successfully polar align & guide. Changing the mount on the drop down has made everything as easy as 1-2-3! 🙂

Update. I now have the mount, AA+ & phone app all talking to each other. It appears there are two options for the iEQ30 mount within the mount selection drop down box:

“iOptron iEQ30 Pro/iEQ45 Pro” and “iOptron iEQ30/iEQ45 & 8407”

I was using the latter as I have the 8407 handset. Turns out I should be using the former!

will this now allow the guide cam to talk to the mount?
