This is the single most important feature in my opinion now that AA is stable. SkyWather claims upward of 40% better guiding and Celestron claims 60% better guiding with PEC trained and enabled.
I have a EQ6-R Pro and I can consistently get 0.6 to 0.8 guiding without PEC and as soon as I enable it within a minute my guiding drops to 0.2-0.4 total error… it is immediate and real. For my Celestron CGX it is very similar improved results.
this is a VERY simple command to record and playback… and you could make it transparent to the user. On both of these mounts it is a timed record run and you can query the mount to see if its done and if playback is happening.
not a lot of mounts have PEC so start with the major ones that are easy loke skyWatcher & Celestron.
