ASI VideoStack

I really like ASI Studio so far. I use ASICap for my main capture.

My question relates to stacking my video files. I get an AVI file and then run it into VideoStack. What I do not understand is the slider button, which says “Stack Percent”. See photo, lower right. If I take a picture of a solar prominence and I now want it to be sharp focus, would I use as an example, 20% or should I choose 80%?

I love the product.

It depends on how many good frames in your video, if it is a high-quality video, you can choose a high percent.

My suggestion: use the best 1.000 frames, 20% will be enough out of a 5.000 frames video. Discard low quality frames.

I did not realize they had added that to ASIStudio. I am still on an older version as there were a number of issues with the latest release.I have used ASIDeepStack a lot. I believe that item is referring to the percent of frames you want to include in the stack depending on their sharpness. Other stacking software usually gives you some sort of a graph as to how many frames are above a certain sharpness value so you can determine how many you want to use. Does ASIVideoStack do that?

I am not an expert in the use of their programs, so I am not even sure that VideoStack is the right one to use. Perhaps they expect more experienced users, but I cannot comprehend from “Stack Percent” exactly what they want me to do.

The link does not work for me either although it is correct and I am not a Twitter subscriber either. There is something wrong with how this ASI website is interpreting the link. Just copy the link and paste it into the URL line in your browser. It should work.

Actually SharpCap is much better. I could not get a viable video file out of the ASIAIR to use in any third party image processing software. I am still using v1.9. Possibly this has been fixed in v2.x.
