I NEED HELP IMAGING WITH the 290mm mini. It works well with phd2 but I want to use it as a finder with apt. What camera settings do you suggest to get it to work in apt liveview?

Hi, I have the 294 mm attached to my evo guide scope. I use it with my ASIAIR pro. The only settings I use are = get focus, this can mean setting the gain, set the guide camera as your main camera in the ASIAIR then get focus, remember to reset things back to your main camera. There is nothing else to do. I just hope I am talking about your issue.

denababy Thanks for your response. don’t have the asiair. I can get an image with the 290mm mini in APT with ss set at 0.00”. But only bright objects like the moon. But at that ss setting the stars don’t show. I am just wondering why the other ss options don’t seem to work.

0s exposure time is too short to image the stars, you can set it to more than 1s to try.

More details; the 290mmmini works great with APT for guiding. I tried to use the 290/stellarvue 50 as a finder camera/scope. I want to find alignment stars using the 290 and my laptop instead of looking through a finder scope. When I designate the 290 as my imaging camera in APT, the only setting that shows an image is at 0.00s. This image is way too dark to be useful in locating stars. All the other shutter speeds that APT offers, (fractions of a second to minutes) do not produce an image. So I am hoping to find what settings to use for this asi 290mmmini. I am using a dslr as my imaging camera so I am not familiar with the settings (ss,gain, etc) of astro cameras.

Ok, thank you tec at zwo. The AST studio showed how the settings of the camera work. I will try it again at night using . APT. But I should be good use the SV50/290mmmini as a finder.
