Hello,
I made my first attempt at using the ASI Air Plus with the ZWO OAG-L recently and guiding calibration failed. With the same setup, I eventually swapped to my Orion Guidescope and the ASI 290mm camera, and guiding was excellent.
The following happened to a friend as well, even though he had a different scope and the ASI 174 camera.
Here is a summary of the erratic steps taken during calibration:
- Starts normal East Step 1 distance 4
- East Step 2 distance 8
- …
- East Step 8 distance 26
- When it is time to reverse direction from “East Step 8 distance 26” goes straight to “West Step 1 distance 26” (instead of West Step 8)
Another question is about clearing backlash on mounts where there is no backlash – Message says “Clearing Backlash 1: then 2 then 3 when the mount is actually moving in that direction. (seen it happening on ZWO AM5 and iOptron HEM 27)
I have attached the log files.
Calibration steps on the ASI Air were reduced to as low as 500, from memory, without success. The focal length of my William Optics Gt 102mm scope is 703mm and the EAF focused everything perfectly.
Any assistance / advice would be greatly appreciated.
Richard
