When unpacked, the EAF Updater package contains a folder that has a program and a hex file for the firmware.
There is a Windows version, and there is a macOS version, but no Linux version of the updater.
When you run the updater, make sure that the EAF is the only ZWO device that is connected to the USB of the computer. Not long ago, someone managed to brick her EFW when running the EAF Updater.

That symptom appears often on EAF running firmware versions before 3.3.5. Once you run the EAF updater program, it should tell you what firmware your device is running. 3.3.3 was especially bad, but the problem had appeared with early versions too. And especially bad with the 5V stepper motor.
