johnpd the fits and jpg files will both be saved in the folder of the video.

johnpd I don’t know why it cannot generate a corresponding FITS

If you are using FitsViewer, the auto stretch will be turned on in the histogram, so you will see an over-expose image, you can turn it off, and then you can see the normal image

I want to process the FITS file in other software. It is nearly impossible to do because the file is so overexposed. I expressed this in another post. Here are some other issues with ASIVideoStack.

  1. In addition to being very overexposed, the .FITS file has no color. If I use other software (such as AstroStakkert or AstroSurface) to stack the video, I get color.
  2. I can get a less overexposed result if I use ASIFitsView to look at the stacked image and adjust or shut off the Histogram. But again no color is apparent even in any saved .TIFF images from ASIFitsView. The .JPG file saved to my iPad as part of the ASIAIR Video Stack process does have color. I have that image posted above.
  3. It appears that ASIVideoStack is not recognizing the Bayer pattern in the .AVI video file. The .TXT file associated with the video file indicates a Bayer pattern of "RG" which seems strange. Other software though seems to recognize that.

I am using a new ASI662MC camera.

    Just ran a test.

I can load a stacked fits file into ASIVideoStack and it looks normal.

The same file loaded into the fits viewer looks overexposed but when I click the reset on the histogram I get this.

It is in colour but not the same colour.

If I load the .FITS file back into ASIVideoStack, I still get a basically monochrome image with a grid pattern as if it is not recognizing the Bayer pattern. I get a much better image from the .JPG version saved to my iPad in Video mode. I ran a short image tonight as it was extremely windy so I did not spend much time on it. I did some sharpening in Video mode and a little more with Topaz Sharpen. Here is that one.

This is what I got from ASIVideoStack.

johnpd the first image looks great.

Should Jupiter be blue or brownish?

I could see a grid in the image I loaded into the fits viewer, I checked the Bayer pattern and it was correct, ie RGGB.

johnpd I finally got out in the wee hours of Monday morning and was able to find focus for my new ASI662MC using my Explore Scientific ED127 refractor. I took a very short video of Jupiter, then used the ASIAIR Video Stacking feature. It worked pretty well. I did a 20ms 60sec video. I hope to try a little longer one now that I know where to start. The ASIAIR video stack did a decent job. I also tried the ASIVideoStack in ASIStudio. The biggest problem with that is that it generates a FITS file which is way overexposed and is difficult to work with. The .JPG that it generates is great. I don’t know why it cannot generate a corresponding FITS. Here is what the ASIAIR Video Stack gave me from the file it saved to my iPad Album to which I did some minor processing on th

Did you try hitting the reset in the histogram? You can share the fit file with us and I can check if the image is over-exposed.

You can share the video with us, and we can check the 3 issue you mentioned.

johnpd If I load the .FITS file back into ASIVideoStack, I still get a basically monochrome image with a grid pattern as if it is not recognizing the Bayer pattern.

Will feedback to the team and get back to you. Can you send the original fit file to us so we can check your image

franco FitsView has auto-white balance and Videostack does not have it.
        So the display is different.

@ASIStudio@ZWO#59750 is there any way to turn off the white balance?

I noticed that the fits viewer doesn't use the native file browser, so not consistent with the other apps in ASIStudio.

Also just wondering why ASIVideoStack doesn't appear as a standalone app, I can start all the others without first starting ASIStudio. Not a big deal .

franco is there any way to turn off the white balance?

Can I ask why do you need to turn off the auto-balance? I guess you want to manually adjust the white balance, right? Or you want to see the image displayed in Videostack and FitsViewer are the same.

When you click the "Open FITS" button in ASIFitsViewer, it will open a native file browser. If I did not get your meaning, please correct me.

Can I ask what version of ASIStudio are you using, and how did you open the other software without open ASIStudio?

          Thank you in advance!

          @ASIStudio@ZWO#59786

          I'm using version 1.7

Sorry, I was thrown by the dark theme the fits viewer is using, they all open the same file browser but it's not the native browser. Not a huge deal just not what I'm used to.

I guess you are using Qt? My desktop is Gtk based.

          This is from deep stack

          This from a desktop app

I can open deep stack from the app menu

@ASIStudio@ZWO#59784 Can I ask why do you need to turn off the auto-balance?

Not sure auto-balance makes sense for planets?

This is what I got for Mars with a 360P video. Processed with AstroSurface and Topaz Sharpen.

              JohnD

Enlarged with Topaz Gigapixel. It is a little fuzzy around the edges.

                Yes, we are using QT.
