EAF doesn't remember it's position after power off

Hello, My EAF loses track of where it's at when the power is off.
I have it on a scope at my observatory which is solar powered. If we have a whole bunch of cloudy days in a row sometimes the batteries are low enough that the controller has to shut things down and the power goes off.
I've done the "rack all the way in, reset to zero" thing a number of times but it doesn't remember.
Last time I did an imaging session the focus number was 13785. Next time I used it (after a power shutdown) it THINKS it's at a focus number of 1000.

How can I tell it: "You're at THIS number now"? Set the number manually...

bill the sky guy same problem on my 12 volt EAF. Is there a resolution yet?

I am not sure how this info is stored and retrieved. My belief is the info is kept not by the EAF but by the software driving it.
If the software relies only on memory data then that data is lost once the power turns off but if it is saved on a file and read at start-up then it will be there regardless the loss of power.
I don't know what software are you using but tat might be the culprit, not the EAF.

It is likely saved in the EPROM of the microprocessor in the EAF, since you can set the parameters (current, max, fine and coarse steps) with ASIstudio and it will maintain the step position when the EAF is later connected to an ASIAIR.

(The internal temperature reading is most likely the sensor that are built into the microprocessors too ("free")).

Usually the current position will save in the firmware and recover when you connect it.
