I bought this pier and it's arriving today. But having set up my gear several times now without it, I am wondering if I actually need it.
My cables are all long enough that I am not having any problem with cables getting snagged while slewing. So, my questions are:
- Will the pier reduce the stability of the mount?
- Will the pier decrease any possible vibrations that may come up from the ground into the tripod?
- Will the pier affect guiding? A few nights ago I was able to achieve .4" on the DEC axis and .6" on the RA axis, so I don't want to add anything that could make those numbers higher!
If there are any advantages to having the pier, other than raising the scope and mount off the ground a bit, please let me know!
Thanks,
Jerry
