And there's no way to fit the mount on a eq6-r pro?
PE200 now supports 1.75 inch Sky-watcher tripod.
MrCat Remove the azimuth post from the mount head. Find a long (at least 30 cm, you'll need to measure) threaded 3/8X16 rod and 2 wingnuts and washers. Install the AM5 on top, thread the rod in. Tighten it against the underside of the tripod with wingnut and washer. Install leg spreader and tighten it wing washer #2 and wingnut #2.
tempus Thanks for the idea. I'll try it!
What about using it on the PrimaLuceLab C82 Pier?
gammerpc What about using it on the PrimaLuceLab C82 Pier?
Will confirm with the team.
zuts I was one of them. I just posted a question to that effect.
Regarding the skywatcher tripod. If you have a PE200 you can attach the am5 ro the tripod without any additional hardware. I've described the procedure in this post on cloudy nights:
https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/850769-zwo-am5-alternative-tripod/page-6#entry12835822
zuts this information is correct , the same problem
zuts. Can't be believe ZWO ignored the EQ6/EQ6-R tripod users. That's an awful decision marketing wise. I'm looking else for an harmonic mount.
Definitely annoying - should have checked specs better, as my PE200 just arrived only to find it doesn't fit my EQ6R tripod for the same reason. Big omission by ZWO
DevonRob Yes, PE200 does not support all other tripods.
This is a permanent setup, PE200 with Orion EQ-G tripod which is the same as Skywatcher EQ6-R.. The M10 is threaded in the place of azimuth post which must be removed, rotate the PE200 till you see the threaded part of the hole ( which was for the azimuth post) Beware of the M10, It should not be too long otherwise it will hit the leg's upper part. I found this way very strong and PE200 is fixed firmly .
Sorry, My previous reply was about PE200 extension with SW tripod. Regarding AM5 with SW tripod (Without extension) I used : Astro Essentials 3/8" Photo Adapter for AZ-EQ6, NEQ6 and EQ6-R Tripods it works good and straight forward and you have to remove the Azimuth post.,
