The current ASCOM driver does not support v1.2.2 60min tracking after MF feature yet. Will support it soon.

I was finally able to get out to test the 1.2.2 FW version again for goto in alt-az mode. Mount is level and pointed north. Turn mount on and send it to home (it is in the home position from last use when I turn it on but tried both ways) and goto a target. It is not in a two degree field of the eyepiece but in the RACI field. Center the target using the hand controller then tap the target in the AM5 Mount app then sync. Goto next target and it is the same, not in the two degree eyepiece field but in the RACI so do the same as before. Did this on 7 or 8 targets and it is the same in all. Never in the two degree field of the eyepiece (sometimes even 4 degrees off). Then I retraced by steps and went back to the targets I had already sync'ed on. Half were in the eyepiece field and the other half were not, out by 3 to 4 degrees. So this mount is not accurate or the multi-star code needs more work??

Have you tried updating to beta 1.2.3? I'd like to know your results because I only care about visual with AltAz and using only the app.

I have not tried the 1.2.3 since ZWO did not state that they had done more work on the multi-star alignment. I did grab it when they posted it so perhaps today I can load it to the mount and wait for a clear window to test it also. The app ruins dark adapted eyes, it really needs a night mode for us visual folks. I personally would like them to produce a hand controller that does more and visual users are not so reliant on the app. I will hopefully get the 1.2.3 loaded today then I can report back the results.

If you can connect the AM5 to SkySafari it might solve the go-2 problem. SkySafari has a sync to an object in the sky map.
Align: This synchronizes the scope to coordinates of the selected object. The bullseye indicated in the sky chart shows where the telescope thinks it is pointing. If that appears incorrect, the scope and the software must be aligned. To do so:
Physically center the scope on a real object in the sky.
Select that object in the sky chart to make it the current target object.
Click the Align button.
You can re-align the scope and the software anytime there is a discrepancy between the two.

As you, I was mostly interested in the AM5 for visual work in Alt/Az. But it appears it's useless in that regard at this point. I'm hoping SkySafari will solve the problem. I'd be really grateful if you would give this a try. And thank you for pointing out the alignment shortcomings of the AM5.

I have used SkySafari and it does no better. From what I've read SkySafari does not do an internal sync (ie, in the app), it just sends the coordinates to the mount so there is no difference. I have beta 1.2.3 loaded now and will try that when skies allow. I also have grabbed the beta 1.2.4 to continue if 1.2.3 is no better. I am confused that ZWO is testing and it works for them but not here. Hopefully they can get a handle on it. Though I am alt-az I have tried in EQ mode and it is no better. Simply needs more work. Patiently waiting and hoping.

Thanks Jeremiah. Man, I was really hoping it would work. It seems the AM5 is really intended for folks that image. Too bad, there's a whole other market they could be tapping into.

Just received an AM5 and using with 8” Celestron EdgeHD. Primarily will be using in AltAz mode for visual astronomy.

First light last night. Using the ASI-Mount app, I aimed the scope to north and hit the HOME button. It pointed itself to north horizon.

Did a Find, GoTo Moon. Tweaked paddles to center. Tapped the moon icon. Tapped SYNC
Did a Find and goto Vega; it was way off. Tweaked paddles to center Vega, tapped Vega icon, SYNC
Did a Find and GoTo Venus; it was way off. Tweaked with paddles to center, tapped target and SYNC.

For the rest of the night, GoTo ‘s were always way off, even if going to a previous synced object.

Tried Sky Safari, no happiness on accuracy.

What am I doing wrong?

I setup AltAz mode at home, then took my setup to a dark site and ‘placed the mount so that the bubble showed level. Is that what you mean?
