ASIair Plus won't boot

Since today, my ASIair Plus won't boot anymore. The only light that turns on is PWR. Can I somewhere find an image to download? Or is there another solution? The reset button doesn't work.

You can no longer explicitly download firmware to the third generation ASIAIR.

A "factory default" firmware resides in the eMMC storage. When you depress the RESET button for longer than 5 seconds, a copy of that eMMC firmware is then used as the active firmware.

You might try that. The next time the ASIAIR app connects to the device (assuming this fixes the problem), the app will update the very old firmware to the level that is required by the app.

(After that firmware reset, you will need to reset all of your WiFi settings, e.g., network password, etc, so don't willy nilly restore to that old firmware.)

However, your problem may not be firmware but hardware. First, remove everything except for 12V DC power INPUT and the LAN connections, to see if the ASIAIR boots up.

Next, the ASIAIR specs for power is bogus. I went through two different third-generation ASIAIR that will not boot if 12V DC exceeds 13.75 V, despite the specs stating that the DC input can be between 11 and 15V. So, check to make sure not only that DC is over 11V (with at least a 5A ability) , but that it is under 13.75V. Note that a fully charged sealed lead acid battery's voltage is 13.8 volts -- so are many industrial "12V DC" power supplies.

aviola there are two possibilities，1) the system is really not power on. 2) the system is power on,but wifi does not work.you could distinguish them by is there one long beep when power on。and is there a phenomenon that the power led light 8 times。

Hi,

Thanks. Checked all that: everything removed except power supply, 12.2 V, reset, etc. Nothing happens, meaning Wifi also not active, so can't connect with the app.

This is pretty frustrating: a lot of money and a device that doesn't work according to spec.

I am having the same issue. Pwr light on only. Reset did not seem to do anything. Plugged in to an outlet. I have all kinds of ASI equipment now especially after upgrading to the plus from the pro. I have two cameras, EFW eaf . I will have to go back to sharpcap as I now have two paperweights. Once I added the plus the pro is no longer available as an option for some reason.
Really aggravating that we can't talk to someone from the company like I can do for everything else, mount problems I can call skywatcher, etc...

Tossing the ASIAIR, and spending time to learn more advanced systems is probably the best option on the long run.

However, if you are willing to give it one more shot trying to make the ASIAIR work; take a look at my post number 5 in this other thread on how to reset firmware an "ASIAIR Plus":

If it is a firmware problem, the above should reset it to the "factory" firmware that the ASIAIR came with.

Note that after a proper firmware reset, when connected to the device, the ASIAIR app will show a window that says Reset Firmware (first screenshot in my posting). If you don't see that, the firmware had not been reset.

After resetiing the firmware, you can then update it to whatever level the ASIAIR app that you are using requires, just like when you normally update firmware. Shown in the third screenshot.
