Hara ASIAIR recognises the drive but when I try to add phases to plan, it says that there is not enough room in the drive.
Try ExFAT (or, simply FAT on macOS, which switches to ExFAT when it can).
If you hadn't done it earlier, you need to switch the ASIAIR to use the SSD. Select the Files menu (in same set of menu sa as Preview, AutoRun, etc).

You should see an item named USB Drive there. Tap on it to use the external drive.
You can also see how much memory ASIAIR thinks your storage has avalable. In the abve case, it is a Samsung 512 GB SSD, and shows up as 465.8 GB available.
Before unplugging the SSD, be sure to tap first on the Eject icon at the far right of USB Drive. Or at least, select some other drive first.
