Firmware update failed

I installed the 2.1 app and when I launched it on my android phone, it tells me to upgrade firmware. I start that process and after around 16% the firmware update fails, I tried it 3 times.

How do I roll back the 2.1 app to 2.0? I'd really prefer to do that as I am getting good results with 2.0.

Look into your tablet for the older APK. Should be there unless you had deliberately deleted it. Just search the web on where to find the APK files. Install the APK that you want.

You also need to roll back the the firmware (to the factory defaults, usually) if you want to roll back the app past the firmware version that is currently installed. The different models of ASIAIR have different ways to do that; the forum is full of posts on how to roll back firmware.

However, there already could be something wrong with the firmware that is in the ASIAIR right now; causing the update to fail. And can cause other firmware updates in the future to fail. It is probably best for you to revert back to the original firmware than came with the ASIAIR from the factory. If you do that, you should also be able to use the firmware that v2.1 needs.

jsg I've had the same problem with all the recent releases but loading the APK with the same version number works. Ie you can install the 2.1 APK if you download it from the ZWO site.

Weirdly, if you then install the stable app from Google Play, it doesn't update the firmware but the thumbnails for all the goto targets don't work.

Haven't tried 2.1 for imaging yet so can't say if it works.

Thanks! I found a site that has all of the previous versions of ASIAIR Plus apps, and, as you wrote in another post, the firmware that is compatible with the app's version is bundled within the app. So, at least with the last 2 or 3 versions, I can just roll back to the appropriate firmware.

It would be really nice if ZWO could post a factory supported previous version(s) apk file download site.
Several asiair apk downloads available on the web are a fraction in size compared to the factory release which leads me to assume the firmware is not packaged with the apk file???
This and a factory supported workaround for IOS users to rollback to a previous version if they failed to archive would be a huge benefit for the community..
Regardless if the 2.1 works for the majority of users there is and always will be certain user hardware configurations that work better with a specific version of the asiair system.
