bqb It's partially compatible with LX200 command set. AM5 uses a specific dialect of LX200 on the serial connection to computer (both serial-on-usb and socket connection through WiFi). This dialect defines command as a sequence of :xxxyyy# chars, where ':' is start of command, xxxyyy is body and # is delimiter, for example :Sg025:44# sets longitude. Mount may not respond at all, or respond either with one-character answer (0 or 1) or with more characters delimited by #, like -012*23:17#. This answer is specific to command.
Many of the AM5 commands are meaningless in LX200 (as used by Meade and/or OnStep), some are compatible, some have entirely different effect.
I think AM5 is NOT compatible with Meade hand controller.
