I recently purchased an ASI2400MC Pro camera, I am using it with an ASIair Plus. on the main camera window there is a selection to use the camera as a Full Frame or APSC ROI.
What is the ASIair/camera actually doing. Is it actually using a smaller area of the Sensor or is it Binning the pixels of the Sensor? I have not noticed the images to be more sensitive to the available light, as would be expected if it Was a Binning process. I do notice the planetarium program indicates the size of the field imaged is smaller.
Is the main benefit of the APSC selection is to image with greater speed due to the smaller files output?
The full Frame .fits images are about 53MB in size. and the APSC (ROI) .fits images are about 21MB.
If there is a document associated with this feature describing its desired use can you provide a link please, so I may know what its use is intended.
