Meridian flip failed 4 times, succeeded 5th time.

Let me know if the logs will be helpful, basically I was out imaging over the weekend. Everything else worked as it should but I got "Meridian Flip Failed" message 4 times before it finally succeeded on the 5th attempt. The error in the log was something along the lines of 'wrong pier side' which I validated by going outside to look at the time.

Eventually, it sorted itself out, actually slewed to put the OTA on the correct side of the pier, plate solved, and I was on my way. I didn't do or touch anything to make it fail or to fix it.

Any ideas? I don't think I have seen it do that before.

It is just waiting for the mount to think that the target has transited the Meridian.

The ASIAIR keeps trying to send a GOTO (which would cause a Meridian flip if the mount thinks the object has transited).

In your case, 5 minutes (time) has passed after the ASIAIR thinks it has transited before the mount finally thinks that the target has passed zero Hour Angle. 5 minutes in time is about 1.2º. Next time, try to east-west level your mount to better than 1º, and you will need to wait less.

ayavner It is normal for Meridian Flip to fail and retry. ASIAIR makes multiple attempts until it successfully flips

I believe I had it pretty well leveled all the way around, but will definitely check again. I did another few hours last night and it did the flip correctly on the first attempt, so I'll chalk it up to an anomaly and remember to keep a close eye on the leveling.
