I am getting the message “ ASIair not found” when trying to connect the APP on my iPad to my ASIair Plus. My iPad is connected to my ASIair WiFi hotspot.

My ASIair Plus has been previously activated and successfully connected to my iPad. However, I recently deleted and reloaded the APP on my iPad. Now it won’t connect to the ASIair.

Should I reset my ASIair Plus to factory settings? I can do this using my iPhone. If I did this I assume I would have to reactivate my ASIair? Can it be reactivated?

Any help much appreciated.

andrew_l However, I recently deleted and reloaded the APP on my iPad. Now it won’t connect to the ASIair.

Go to iOS Settings (the gray gear icon).

In Settings window, scroll the left panel all the way down until you see the Apps section (where the permissions of all your apps reside). You should see ASIAIR there, alphabetically sorted. Tap on ASIAIR.

On the right panel, ASIAIR access privileges should show up.

You need to give access to Local Network, and to Location services (at least at the "While Using" level).

It accesses a server in China, so we now also get nuisance ads in the ASIAIR splash screen -- you can decide based on those two whether you want to continue using ASIAIR.

w7ay Thanks, Chen. I discovered sort of what you said. Oddly enough the ASIair app does not appear amongst all the other apps in the iPad settings. However, it does appear in the Privacy and Security section. So I there set it to access local network. The App now sees the ASIair and I can connect to it.

However, it keeps wanting Location Access and I don’t know what it wants. The app appears to have my correct coordinates. So I’m a bit puzzled by that although I can cancel the Location Access dialogue box and can use the App, controlling my AM5 mount etc.

andrew_l However, it keeps wanting Location Access and I don’t know what it wants.

It wants aceess to Location Sevices (your precise latitude and longitude).

If you cannot find a global ASIAIR Settings, go to Privacy & Security Settings, tap on Location Services to open the Location Services window.

Ensure that location services is turned on, and then scroll down to ASIAIR app. Select "While Using." Remember, all this information goes to a Chinese server -- do not give it any more permission than "While Using."

Does you iPad also have an LTE or 5G connection? If so, disable it. If I'm not mistaken, the ASIAir App is listening for UDP packets from the Air but on the wrong network (LTE instead of WiFi for example).

w7ay Yes, I discovered and implemented this even before I read your reply. But thanks so much for your advice. :-)

hyiger No it’s not on LTE or 5G. I had read elsewhere that could be a problem. Thanks though.
