Will ASIAIR support two of the same camera at once?

I want to use a ASI585MC as my guide camera and another one as my main camera (two different cameras), how will ASIAIR handle this? Will it fail, how can I tell the difference in Guiding and Telescope settings? I think what i'll need to do is, just disconnect the main camera, then connect the guide one to asiair, then connect the main camera, and then setup that one.

What you will find that once a camera is selected as a main camera, that camera will be grayed out (not selectable) in the Guide camera menu. And vice versa.

You should therefore be able to start with only the main ASI585 camera connected by the USB cable (only a single ASI585 appears in both camera menus). Go to Main camera menu and select it.

Now connect the USB cable to the second ASI585. In the Guide camera menu, one of the ASI585 should be grayed out (because it is being used as the Main camera), so the remaining ASI585 is the second camera. Select that as your guide camera.

Well, you should be able to do so now since the ASIAIR just detects the type of camera connect via USB.

The main issue is how to determine which camera is the main camera and which is the guide camera when selecting a camera from the drop down boxes.

Until ZWO comes up with a way to allow name customisation of a connected USB device that it remembers (so even when turned off with everything disconnected then reconnected and turned on it still remembers the name) the only way I see to do this is as follows:

Set it up all your equipment. Don't connect ASI585MCs to the ASIAIR USB ports.
Turn on ASIAIR.
Connect first ASI585MC (to be the main camera) to ASIAIR via USB. In ASIAIR App - go to Main Camera and select the ASI585MC from the drop down. Make sure its powered on and enabled in ASIAIR.
Connect second ASI585MC to the ASIAIR via USB. In ASIAIR App - go to Guide Camera and select the ASI585MC from the drop down. You might now see ASI585MC (1) and ASI585MC (2) in the camera listing. Select ASI585MC (2). Check the Main camera is ASI585MC (1). Should now be able to make sure guide camera is powered on and enabled in the ASIAIR.

This is all just a guess, mind you, as I don't have two of the same ZWO cameras to test this out.

Corsair THX! Exactly what i plan on doing, thanks for confirming. I know its crazy, but i tried the ASI585MC as a guide camera (due to suggestions that a larger format camera is good for multistar guiding), and it works wonderfully in that role (like .5 arc seconds). I'll report back here how this works out.

Corsair I just hope it remembers the "next" time i turn it on, so don't have to reset each time. We'll see how smart ASIAIR is.
