Let me ask you the same question I posted on a different forum:
Essentially the question we are asking is if the utilization of a guide camera (connected to the asiair) provides any more accuracy when shooting the EAA images versus not utilizing a guide camera and just the Alt/Az Meade mount which is supposed to have tracking ability as well (not as good as as Eq mount). Meade LX90 12 Inch.
Option 1 - Meade AltAz mount calibrated. ASIAIR Plus with camera on main scope finds target and once EAA imaging commences the Meade Alt/Az mount takes over tracking while imaging is active
Option 2 - Meade AltAz mount calibrated. ASIAIR Plus with camera on main scope finds target and once EAA imaging commences the guide scope actively maintains the target in the center of field of view.
We are trying to determine if Option 2 actually works with Meade dual fork AltAz mounts and if it does....is it any better than without a guide camera.
