Hi, my seestar got first light yesterday night. A very short trial during a short clear sky window.
It is promising up to now but I would like to ask for an alternative mode ie equatorial mode. I agree this is an advanced mode but I am sure that seestar is also bought by already astrophotographers that know about it and could benefit from this improvement (no field rotation, longer frame exposures maybe 30s?).
When you turn seestar on it assumes that is is orientated north and down. If the azimuth motor supports it, adding a dedicaded accessory to the tripod or using an existing equatorial mount (as a mechanical support) it could start from the so called home position looking at the north pole (or south pole). Knowing that seestar is plate solving, after an initial pointing and focusing, seestar could run a polar alignment routine as NINA or other astrophoto softwares do and that's it. I am sure it is no that easy but it looks feasible through software and an accessory.
I will continue my discovery, up to now I really think it is a very good product for the price. Frederic
