I gave the v2.1.2 beta a try last night and things generally worked well except for one issue that I think may be a bug.

During the PA routine, I had two instances where after I completed the PA and pressed the "Finish" button, the PA routine restarted by snapping another photo and beginning to rotate. Luckily I was paying attention and was able to cancel the routine before the mount rotated too far.

Unfortunately, the PA routine doesn't show up in any log files that I know of and I wasn't doing any screen recording at the time but this happened twice in one night and is something I'd never experienced before.

Some relevant notes on my setup:
Unit: AsiAIR Plus 32gb
Mount: AM5
PA Type: All Sky Polar Alignment
Client Device: Pixel 7 Pro Android 14

Side note: A longstanding bug on Android still persists where the Compass feature in the planetarium section of the app is completely unusable on every Android device I've ever tried. 3 Pixel devices, and a Samsung tablet. I usually resort to switching to Stellarium when I need the compass feature. When I try to use the compass feature, the FOV is very very jittery with large visual jumps in the FOV even when used with a stable hand.

Can you also add an option to change fan speed for ASI2600MM and MC cameras? Users are running into vibration issues at high focal lengths.

hyiger I added 4 Noctua NA-SAV3 anti-vibration mounts a year ago and I haven't had fan vibration issues with the ASI2600MM anymore. It's a design issue in this camera and I guess in other ZWO cameras that they never wanted to face ( many complaints for years about it, no real fix ). So I recommend you to use this solution so you can run the camera's fan at full speed without elongated stars, instead of a speed control for the ASIAir ( a nice addition anyway if possible ).

With my AVX with mount whether in Preview, Focus or Video, holding down the
RA and DEC arrows for mount slewing for longer than 10 or 15 secs, the mount will continue slewing for another 5 seconds. I've seen it for short periods occasionally. Sometimes pressing on an arrow nothing happens. Seems to get worse with time. This is from iPhone XR running IOS 16.6.1. AVX mount firmware HC: GEM 5.34.2160, MC: 7.15.8270. Reproduced on iPad Gen 9 with IOS 16.1.1

minimoto71 i too tested the Noctua Sav3 posts and as with some others, I found… no difference in vibration levels with a Sunon fan that is good on those rubbery posts. On a bad fan it actually made the vibration even worse. I also tested this out on 3 different camera models. I also tested the Noctua fans and Fractal fans and the least vibrations were from Fractal fans, but the reduced CFM and RPM did not cool the cameras down enough to sustain -10c while imaging. I ended up testing with multiple small red O-rings similar to what zwo does now and that worked great even with a stock good Sunon fan. The option for a fan speed reduction wil be an added benefit as it would reduce vibration even further andcwould be a great option in the winter months. Some cameras will have marginal to good fans and some need to get replaced as nothing will work to stop them vibrating.. believe me I tried and tested it all. Those post will work fair on a fan that was badly installed but the use of 3 small o rings per screw works great and that is why zwo now does it that was… supposedly from what I was told.

Yup, did that already. I still would like to be able to lower the fan speed as well. There is a thread over on CN about adding a small dab of glue to one or more blades to better balance it.

Kevin_A I also tried to add extra ZWO O-rings ( bought another fan from them that came with 4 extra ) as you suggest but I didn't find any real improvement. So I am lucky being able to reduce the vibration just with the Noctua anti-vibration mounts. The fan is suspended in the middle of the case and doesn't touch any other surface of the camera, may be that's the reason. I can reach -23º C during winter with that configuration ( where I live, winter is mild ). And my stars are round, something I haven't had before. As I said, lucky me ;-)

minimoto71 i tried a lot of configurations and so did a lot of others. So much variance of results. I still have many posts and many fans left over. From my testing. There was a lot of vibration variances in the Sunon fans. I have also read so many peoples experiences that were all over the place, some successful with posts and others not at all that I also believe that some of the vibrations on some cameras are created by high cfm vibrating the heat sink fins as well. I wish i had more time and extra cameras to test an even better solution as some had great sucess from weights and some other manufacturers use isolation springs with great results. If zwo would send me a few cameras to test I would gladly design a better method as thats what I used to do before I retired… design better solutions to mechanical designs.

minimoto71 on a bad fan that soft suspension actually creates a longer frequency vibration but not as rapid so it just changes the frequency. It still transfers into the case but you feel it differently… the best suspension is on very thin hair wire springs. If you send a vibration through a heavy mass it gets absorbed, thru a thin wire it dissipates it and thru a medium size soft solid it does neither much other than slightly reduce absorbsion thru it. Some other cameras out there use heavy housings and some extra thin wire springs too.

PMTeam@ZWO could you please verify that you reverted the Minmo back to 0.1 from 0.2 in this release, as the increase to 0.2 was in the previous beta test and was not advantageous for SWG (harmonic drive) mounts. Thanks.

This update is definitely going in the right direction for AM5 users and 2600 users.

@PMTeam@ZWO i did notice that after I set my asi2600mc pro gain to -25 in the camera tab page it swithes from Gain -25 to Gain 0 in the main asiair page (beside image resolution) as soon as I start imaging in preview mode and it also switches to Gain 0 when it starts imaging in autorun. Files are saved with detail info that says gain -25. When i go back to the main camera tab page to check, it changes back to -25 on the main page and it is at gain 0 on the camera tab page then slides to -25 immediately on the gain slider bar. I did send a bug report but not sure it will show up.

w7ay From my testing of 2.1.2,/ 10.92, I think MinMo of 0.2 is still in the software. My guiding was bad under this version with corrections only made in large increments when the guiding was past 1.2 on the guiding graph. I reverted back to the stable release and guiding improved and the frequency is more often and the size of the correction is more varied.

charding i still think @PMTeam@ZWO needs to address this! Or at least make it an advanced fearure for all SWG mounts. That was my experience with the last beta test.
