I'm a bit frustrated because I'm a very techie guy (I really am), but I'm just not understanding how the app and Seestar connect to each other. I bought a Galaxy Tab tablet so I could have a larger screen and dedicated device for controlling the Seestar, and I fee like I'm clumsily bouncing around the settings until things work. I managed to get a connection a couple times that seemed proper (the Seestar and the tablet both talked to each other AND had internet connections through my phone acting as a hotspot). From memory, here's what I do:
I start up the Seestar until I hear it's ready to connect. I start up the app in the tablet. My Seestar (unique ID is shown) is listed on the home screen. I tap on "Connect". I'm asked to authorize the app's access to Network, Location, etc., with little on/off buttons next to each. I click on the red button to approve it. There's a pause and then my seestar is listed with a "Connect" button off to the right. I do that and a large circular connection symbol comes up for a few moments with a message about bluetooth or something. Then it displays the instruction to go into my WLAN settings and connect to the SeeStar manually, using the Seestars built-in Wifi and a password of "12345678"). I tap the button, my seestar's wifi is listed, I connect to it, then back out of the screens and get back into the application and I'm connected.
But neither my tablet or the seestar has access to the internet this way. There's a station mode setting and I configured my seestar to use my home's wifi (first time was with my phone's wifi, and that actually seemed to clumsily work as I managed to get both my tablet and the seestar onto it). I turn on station mode by tapping the image of the seestar and going into the wifi settings, etc. But my tablet still isn't connected to my home's wifi and if I do that, it loses connection with the seestar. Like I mentioned, the first time or two I used it, I went back and forth and found that I had established a connection, but by going back and forth so many times, I'm not sure of the exact procedure.
What is Station Mode? Does Bluetooth come into play? I see my seestar listed as a nearby bluetooth device when I go into my tablet's bluetooth settings, but it won't pair when I tap on it. Can anyone with experience clearly explain the nuances of this and how I can get it to work. I'd love to be able to boot up both tablet and seestar, have them connected properly so the tablet still has internet access, and start imaging. I plan on doing this home with my home's network, maybe in a park outside the city using my phone's wifi, and my friend's house with his wifi. I just find I keep spending a lot of time bouncing around connection settings because while I can always connected directly to it using its internal wifi, I won't have internet then. Some of the features of the app require that you have internet.
Can anyone offer advice and maybe school me on the nuances of the connection procedure?
