I am just afraid mosaic mode will be yet another big disappointment, after waiting for it for so long, I have very high expectations.
Getting back on subject, the matter of equatorial wedges - have you seen that the original post in this thread requesting this feature is from Dec 20, 2023? - I already have two of them, it would take ZWO a very minor software change to implement this. Basically not have the user fake the location to the North Pole and allowing targets under the horizon, both would be trivial to do, probably not more than a couple of simple code changes. I would expect then close to 100% stacking efficiency, because field rotation would be at least an order of magnitude lower and also no problems with targets above 85 degrees or crossing the meridian. People worry about mechanical wear but my S50 will be out of warranty in a couple of months anyway, so who cares?
You do not need perfect polar alignment either, a couple of degrees off the celestial pole could be compensated with the current plate solving and tracking algorithm, with minimal residual field rotation left, which can be easily compensated now. This is such a low hanging fruit it is basically rotting on the ground. Why would it take ZWO 10 months to even consider this, let alone implement it boggles the mind.
