I just heard about the possibility of a more advanced Seestar and that got me very excited.
I am a long time astro photographer with much more advanced equipment, BUT I LOVE my S50 because I can take it anywhere with me.
I see a lot of requests for improvements here, but I hope everyone remembers the one thing that makes the Seestar so special, at least in my opinion. LOL
That is, portability and the fact that you can take it on a flight in a carry-on bag!
Getting that out of the way, my wish list includes:
- Slightly larger aperture, like 80mm OR even better, modular options like the Askar V Series.
- Slightly higher resolution sensor.
- Optical zoom lens control. I would love to have a wide field view when I am trying to align it on an object, but the S50 is hopelessly lost.
- Optional equatorial mount for those who value portability over tracking accuracy.
And general software improvements that should also be available on the S50:
- Ability to track on a specific object (i.e. comets, asteroids, etc.).
- Ability to do user selected three-star alignment. So many times, the S50 gets confused when it tries to align on a star that cannot be seen from my observation point.
Build a better model and my money is yours!! Seriously, take my money!
