kd I 3d printed one of the sun or solar finders from thingiverse and stick it on top of the Seestar scope leaning up against the fixed side (for horizontal alignment) and then just manually target the sun. When it's centered in the solar finder, it's usually visible on-screen or at least bright on one edge, allowing me to finish aiming.
That said, I was having similar issues with the Moon and here were the two things that eventually fixed it.
- Compass Calibration but very importantly while rotating the scope keep it as level as you possibly can. Spin it on its vertical axis only. It may take longer to finish, but if I let it rotate in any other axis, the initial search angle was noticeably further away from the moon.
- Level it to within .1 degrees. To achieve this I've got one of the 3 screw/knob adjustable tripod leveller mounts.
I just retested it a few minutes ago, and it found the moon inside of 30 seconds. Should do the same for the sun.
