If the WiFi password is known, is it possible to bypass the Bluetooth pre-amble and authenticate a different way? I ask as I want to connect to my S50 in station mode to Bluestacks on a PC so I can do things easily on a large monitor. Struggling at present to get past "Seestar wants to turn on Bluetooth" as the Blestacks can't seem to port through to the PC's native bluetooth adapter.
A more practical question might be why does the s50 need both WiFi & Bluetooth to connect especially as WiFi normally has a better contact range over Bluetooth ?
If you have station mode setup you don't need to press "Connect". It will connect automatically to the selected WiFi station. If you have your monitoring device connected to that same station then it will see the SeeStar and connect automatically. I have station mode setup and I never have to use the Connect button.
Steven Fox Thanks. Does this apply to devices that have never previously connected to the S50? I think (but am not certain) that the bluetooth exchange sets up some secret handshake as well as telling the device the Wi Fi password.
Roger Pittock I'm not sure if after the first "connect" from a device it somehow remembers. You can also just connect your device to the SeeStar WiFi and it connects as well.
The important part is you dont press the "connect" button if you have station mode working. The device should say connected as soon as you start the app (assuming the SeeStar is running).
Now the security bug refusing M33 access without juggling Mac address has been fixed, I thought I'd try this again. Still no joy, so the Bluetooth loop is indeed a security unlocker as well as a wifi SSID password installer. Oh well..
