I see MLAstro have announced a heavier duty mount, the SAL66. The SAL-66 steps up in harmonic size. Right ascension is specified as a size 25 harmonic and declination as a size 20 harmonic and also beefier motors. They are also adding a retrofit robotic polar alignment kit which fits the new mount and also the SAL33.
What do you reckon ZWO, fancy adding robotic polar alignment to the AM7 as well as upping harmonic size and stronger motors?

Finally to be revealed. I wonder if there are any innovative surprises. From the video it just looks like a scaled up version of the AM5N.

An absolute encoder on RA for long focal length/ longer guidung sub exposure for Narrowband imaging with the Duo Cameras, a beefier field tripod would be high up on my wish list.

Finally unveiled. A scaled up version of the AM5N. I expect it to be a very solid performer at a reasonable price.

I wished it had some innovations, but reliability is good too 🙂.
But I really think for the payloads intended on this mount a beefier tripod is urgently needed. The TC40 will start to shake like crazy at 20KG or even 30kg… + counterweight.

ASIMount@ZWO Is there any kind of Dec axis break ? That mount can handle heavier and usually more expensive equipments, so safety would be welcome.

I now have an AM5 and PE200 extension. Is this extension also usable for AM7?

Yes. the bolt pattern on the bottom is exactly the same.

I just picked up mine today. Of course the forecast is clouds for the next two weeks.

My new AM7 has 90 degrees of slop in the altitude adjustment knob. If I turn it clockwise until the head moves, I have to move the knob 90-degrees counter-clockwise to get the head to move in the opposite direction. Is there any way to get rid of this slop?

H5QGH1Bt pretty much all the AMs have significant backlash when changing direction in alt … nothing can be done afaik
