Please add rejection of hot pixels ro live stacked images. Now that the S50 image sensors are older and getting many hours of use fixed hot pixels are starting to show on the final live stacked images. Those dithered hot pixels do not look good at all. The S50’s appeal of producing a quick and decent image ready for sharing is lost.
jldls Seestar will retake the darks frames after restart, so should not have this problem. Can you please share some stacked and single frames with the problem? thanks.
Tech@ZWO Here are two pictures of the same object taken the same night. The top picture was the fist one , the second is the bottom one. The second picture was taken after turning off and back on the S50. The pattern of hot pixels is in the same exact place on each frame. That means those hot pixels are fixed and defective (not random) and they are not related to temperature. All image sensors will develop fixed hot pixels with age and will not go away. The point of my request is to have live stacked pictures calibrated on the fly with the dark frames. As they are now live stacked pictures straight out of the S50 are not longer sharable.
Here some single (sub) frames. As you can see there is maybe a single (or two) hot pixel(s) exactly on the same place of the frames. The problem is that this hot pixel(s) is no being calibrated out by the dark frames. The longer the exposure more of that hot pixel accumulates in the staked image due to dithering.
jldls Our devs are looking into this problem, do you notice when this problem appears? Is it related to a release of an app? thanks.
Tech@ZWO I don’t know, don’t remember if it is related to a release of the app or not. The previous image session that I have done was on June 10th and the 61 minutes image that I took (see image below) doesn’t have the problem. The problem appeared on the following session on June 15th (see image below). June 10th:
